In 2009 and working with Net Literacy Honorary Board of Directors member Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, Net Literacy’s student volunteers agreed to increase the “digital ecosystem” in Indiana’s rural counties. During 2010-2012, Net Literacy committed to provide computers to 400 to 450 libraries, community centers, youth centers, and other nonprofits in 70 or more of Indiana’s communities so that they could build or expand computer labs. This program would impact 10,000s of Hoosiers with limited access or no access to broadband.
In 2010, Net Literacy provided computers to 95 nonprofits in 17 counties. During the first two months of 2011, Net Literacy provided computers to 40 nonprofits in 12 counties.
